"Population: Infinite Growth in a Finite World?" -- "Of all the issues we face . . . none is more important than population growth." Thus began a National Geographic feature on Population. Though growth rates have been slowly declining, added numbers are still at unprecedented, high levels. Many believe that population stabilization is the challenge of our time.
Presented by David Paxson, founder of World Population Balance, reviews the realities of this keystone issue. Members realize that humanity is at a crisis point concerning the interlocking issues of population pressure, environmental degradation and poverty. "One of the best things we can do for our children's future economic well-being is to stabilize population growth so that they will still have opportunities for a decent life in the decades ahead."

Norma Schuh - "Power of a Gratitude Attitude©". Helen Keller, incapable of hearing and unable to see since infancy, nonetheless found life eminently worth living as an international lecturer and writer. Psychologist Victor Frankl, a long-time prisoner of concentration camps, which took the lives of his brother, parents and wife, still claimed to know bliss, finding meager pleasures in the most minute details of his day-to-day existence. Whatever hand you are dealt, how you decide to play the cards can enrich or diminish the quality of life. What are your blessings? What brings you joy? Who makes you smile? The "Power of a Gratitude Attitude©" will help you discover what fills you up, sharpen your awareness of the abundance in your life, and provide a practice for focusing on life’s multiple gifts.

The Rev. Jill Terwilliger - Weaving the Family Together - The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King says, "We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny." He was referring to all of humanity, but it is true, also of the family. In a time when so much in our culture seems to pull families apart, how can we strengthen the threads that weave a family together?.

"Practice for a Singing Life" by Joan Oliver Goldsmith. Musicians practice, as do athletes, doctors, and lawyers. The devout practice a religion. Others practice meditation. But where is the discipline of practice in the business world, in our volunteer organizations, in family life, in academia (once we graduate from the multiplication tables)? Practice is the vehicle that enables inspiration to become reality. Practice makes achieving excellence more reliable. Practice teaches us how to manage ourselves for maximum performance. Joan explores the essential nature of practice, and shows how approaching life AS a practice can improve all our endeavors and make them more joyful.

"Reverence for Life: The theology of Albert Schweitzer", by Rev. Jill Terwilliger.
After years of studying music, philosophy, and theology, Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) entered medical school saying, "For years I have been giving myself out in words, but this new form of activity would not be merely talking about the religion of love, but actually putting it into practice."
